Christmas Music At Wildflower
Ambiance is maybe the thing that takes the greatest artistry around this old homestead at Christmas time. I put in a great deal of time making sure the fire is lit, that the smell in the kettle on top of Old Rusty, the wood stove smells of fir trees, sweet orange, and warm spice. Each year I spend days decorating. Setting up lights in the windows, decorating the tree, bringing outside in as glorious Christmas swag, to make our rustic old fashioned homestead farmhouse interior look at it’s most magical. Just about every room gets the treatment.
Then there is the food. The baking begins, the Glogi gets made, and several varieties of old fashioned Christmas candy gets created and enjoyed.
Activities slow down. We spend more time by the wood stove, often books out, often books about Christmas. We crawl into different Christmas worlds to more deeply experience the holiday in the cozy nest I put together for us.
Then there is the last and perhaps most important bit of ambiance…. At it’s best in the low light in the warmth of the wood stove… Where we sit drinking our glogi…. The music. I am very selective about Christmas music. I really hate that loud raucoussy pop music Christmas. I just feel drained and assaulted in my relaxing, beautiful, rustic, surroundings by that noisy stuff that I might hear at the mall. Instead, I select softer music and strike a different tone. One of relaxation, that enhances the Christmas cozy. It passes through the old style farmhouse like the waves of the ocean and carries us all away into cozy soothing easement. This easing of stress is perhaps the greatest gift we give ourselves for the holiday. I thought it might be nice to make it possible for anyone reading this, to listen with us here. We hope you enjoy the melodies that define the magical relaxation and peace we enjoy here over the holiday. We hope, it provides you with the same holiday quiet joy it gives us. One day soon I will make our music here available somewhere on this site permanently but for now, this will have to do.
The music in our hearts
To the music in yours for this holiday.
Thank you for reading.
